So you might have heard me yelling about Substack for a couple of months and I thought Iβd sit and discuss a bit about what this platform is. I recently made the shift to this platform for my email list and newsletter, as I found it to be much more accessible and straightforward for me to use and be able to communicate to the lovely people on my email list. Also, writing has always been something I did for fun and I thought this would be the perfect place to share more in-depth looks at my work and process, thoughts and stories, itβs also an exciting way to be able to share more than the occasional image or reel on Instagram.
So! Letβs get started - Hereβs a quick and simple explainer of the platform
For me personally, it has replaced my email marketing host, so instead of sending you my newsletters and updates via an email marketing platform, I am now using this. This doesnβt affect you as a reader receiving these in your inbox, but it has made it much simpler for me.
It is completely free to join and read except for any paywalled media that the creator decides to put up. Even though you get a little window asking you to sign up and join Substack, you donβt have to π So you can still read all the free stuff without joining Substack - if you enjoy reading though I really recommend you do!
Itβs not just a platform for writers, thereβs a number of stacks sharing art, food, fashion-related media to name a few.
I mainly use it as a blog, where I share my Quarterly Newsletter, a closer look at my process as an illustrator, work, updates and the occasional ramble. Geeβs Storees is the overall name for my blog.
My blog is split into 2 parts:-
1. Quarterly Newsletter β¨: This is the main section for my Quarterly Newsletter, where you can find an archive of all past newsletters. If you subscribe to my blog (ie Substack) youβll get these sent to your inbox 4 times total in a year.
2. Storees π: This section is for everything else I post, which includes works-in-progress, new work and projects, and any updates I share with you. I have decided to paywall a FEW of these posts, so there will be things that will be only accessible via a subscription, but I will still be sharing free content as well. Iβve also got a chat for paid subscribers, which Iβve kept open for any questions or discussions you might want to ask.
I wanted to keep this brief and not take too much of your time. I hope that this has been helpful, I realise I should have probably shared this earlier but I hope this has clarified any confusion the change in platform brought with it.
While youβre here, Iβd like to thank you for your constant support, always <3 and I will be popping into your inbox later on this month with the first newsletter for 2025! β¨
